Belmont Mill

The Belmont Mill (or Nevada Belmont Mill) had always been high on my list of places to see when I first started exploring. It didn’t disappoint. It is a very pretty area and not many tramways remain standing in Nevada.

The mill was built in 1925 by the Tonopah Belmont Development Mining Company for the Belmont mine (also known as the Glory Mine). A 9,000 ft double rope gravity tramway sent ore down the mountain from the mine into the mill building to be processed. Mining reports state it was mostly worked for silver, lead, zinc, and gold.

There are rumors that a mining company is going to start mining in the area again but when we visited in March of 2015, we found the mill stabilized by the National Forest Service. They did a good job. Thank you.
