I’ve been to this old gold mine in the Panamint mountains a few times over the years and have watched it slowly be destroyed by vandalism and looting. Someone has pushed the ore car off the tracks and down into the canyon.

Tramway

This mine site is special because it has a 1,300 ft double rope tramway with a twelve ft bullwheel and tram cars still hanging on it. That is rare. (I guess one tram car has been stolen since my first photos.)

The mine itself isn’t that big. Which seems strange considering the effort it must have taken to build this tramway. Some of the ore here was milled at the Golden Queen Mill in Mojave.

Some of the photos are film scans from the early days and are not the greatest quality.
