In May of 2012, Micah and I took some time to go hiking and try and find a suspected cabin site high in the mountains. I wasn’t sure what we were going to find up there. I thought the only remains we would find of the old cabin site would be a few 2x4s and some sheet metal laying on the ground. That would be OK though; historical trash is neat.
Turns out, that wasn't the case.

Anyway, the hike was beautiful, and I needed the exercise. There was a storm brewing, however. The wind picked up, and snowflakes dropped on us occasionally. We decided to press on, but we knew we had to hurry before the storm got worse.
Also known as the Side Hill Cabin, I don't know much about the history of the place other than it was used as line cabin for grazing. It has been there for awhile. I hear that the Friends of Inyo plan to remove the cabin soon (October 2025). If you want to see it before it is gone, you'd better get up there.
