I like arches. And this trip is a nice cross-country hike into the granite maze that is the Wonderland of Rocks. Finding the arch is much easier with a map and GPS and I wouldn’t attempt the hike without either. It is easy to get lost back there.
The arch is named for a former Joshua Tree NPS Ranger, Gary Garrett, who first noted the arch while hiking in the area. It is one of the largest arches in the park.
