We were out on an exploring trip in the high mountains of central Nevada in 2008 and I talked our group into a side trip to check out this mining camp. It turned out to be a small camp with not much left except a retort and a few buildings but it is interesting just the same. It was a rich cinnabar mine that was mainly worked in the 1920s.
The mine consists of two shafts both of which are caving and not worth going in. The mine isn’t worth a special trip, but if you are in the area, it is a nice spot to spend a little time at.
