Finding this incredible pictograph site took some time and a long hike. The site had been on our list for a long time, and after some searching, we finally found it. And what a site it is! It is reportedly a Ghost Dance site.

Also known as the Salt Basin Cabin, Bob and Ward’s cabin is a little wooden cabin that is all that remains of a 1920s mining camp in this isolated valley.

Gold Spur Mine
I’ve been to this old gold mine in the Panamint mountains a few times over the years and have watched it slowly be destroyed by vandalism and looting. Someone has pushed the ore car off the tracks and down into the canyon.
Bald Peak Mine
In 2010, I decided to return to this small mine I had first visited in 2000. It is still a pleasant and quiet hike to this little remote valley. I had come out here before to see a small and seldom visited miner’s cabin. Now, I wanted to see
