These dusty old photos are from a combination of trips to the old Santa Rosa Mine in the Inyo Mountains. Not much is left of this place, but it was nice to see the ore cars. And one of them was still sitting on the rails.

I’ve been to this old gold mine in the Panamint mountains a few times over the years and have watched it slowly be destroyed by vandalism and looting. Someone has pushed the ore car off the tracks and down into the canyon.

We’ve visited this mine many times since first exploring it in 2001. It is well-known and well-traveled but so extensive that it is still fun to explore. The mine has miles of drifts and stopes across at least nine levels. It has a few hard-to-reach passageways, and there are
